Planning & Development Committee
SECA’s Planning & Development (PD) Committee, composed of residents, reviews and provides community feedback to the City's planning department on residential and commercial development applications in Shawnee Slopes and Evergreen Estates.
This is particularly important in this time of rapid development and growth to our proximity to the LRT, and the Shawnee Park development and golf course infill in progress.
The Committee’s work includes:
ensuring large and small prospective developments are contextual respecting our neighbourhood feel while revitalizing our area.
engaging with developers and the City on prospective development permit land use change applications as well as on more strategic conversations.
collaborating with the city and developers on best approaches to update the community of matters impactful to our residents.

Transportation & Mobility
The Planning and & Development Committee also oversees mobility conversations in and around our community with the City. Mobility encompasses all forms of movement - walking, biking, automobile and community connectivity.
Community Safety
Constable Matt Messenger, a Calgary Police Service Community Resource Officer (CRO), works closely with residents, businesses, and community associations to build relationships and address local crime and public safety concerns.
The CRO goes beyond responding to calls - they proactively engage with residents to address concerns before they become bigger problems, develop collaborative solutions and promote crime prevention. Think of them as your go-to resource for community safety and problem-solving.

Calgary's Municipal Development Plan (MDP) and its accompanying maps contain policies that will shape how Calgary grows and develops over the next 30 to 60 years. The MDP aims to build a city where people can choose from a variety of housing types in numerous unique communities.
